아래창자간막동맥(IMA)의 첫째 가지는 왼잘록창자동맥이다. 왼잘록창자동맥은 가로잘록창자의 먼쪽 3분의 1과 내림잘록창자 전체에 혈류를 공급한다. IMA에서 갈라진 뒤 왼잘록창자동맥은 왼요관, 왼속정삭혈관(남성) 및 큰허리근의 앞을 주행한 다음 오름분절과 내림분절로 갈라진다.
