O ventre posterior do digástrico é um músculo do arco faríngeo II que participa de comportamentos orais e faríngeos, é inervado pelo ramo digástrico do nervo facial e se fixa à parte posterior da base do crânio e ao aparelho hioide. É encontrado superficialmente ao músculo milo-hióideo.
